MURAMASA (3) was off quite a long letup going into the Ballarat Cup last start and held his ground well enough there when beaten four lengths over 2000m. His run in the Geelong Cup when third and coming again on the line reads very well for this and Shinn going on is a huge positive. SMOKIN' ROMANS (1) has found some good form, taking advantage of a farcical tempo at Flemington two back before just finding Arapaho, who had a perfect run, slightly too good in the G2 Zipping Classic last time. He's a winner of this race in the past and will take plenty of catching from up front. HERMAN HESSE (2) is racing consistently, the fourth in the G3 Bendigo Cup two back reads well for this. He's an each way chance. GOLDMAN (5) was a bit better second up and can improve. His best (pre-injury) had him Melbourne Cup favourite. Speaking of Melbourne Cups, VOW AND DECLARE (4) isn't going badly and can run well.
