Top Greyhounds Set for Action at Addington and Manukau

Addington
Thursday’s Addington meeting is a precursor to next Thursday’s meeting which features heats for a number of Group races.
A number of contenders for the deferred Gr.1 South Island Champs heats will contest the Selwyn Rakaia Vets Ltd Stakes (Race 9).
The Matt Roberts prepared Let Him Cook returns to his home track following his traffic impeded last start Gr.1 Wanganui Cup race.
Forgive him for that miss as he owns real ability as was seen by his prior slick 29.81 520m clock in his heat for that event.
Also returning from the Wanganui Cup final are the litter brothers Who’s Jealous and Charley Horse for their conditioner Garry Cleeve.
Who’s Jealous caught the eye in the strong way his finished for his third-placing, while Charley Horse was denied a clear racing passage. Both are more than capable of making their presence felt in this event.
Leading local conditioners Dave and Jean Fahey bookend the field with a pair of last start winners. Opawa Liny (1) was a solid C4 525m 30.42 winner here and he holds the draw advantage via the one-trap.
Bandit Dan landed his stylish 30.37 525m win here last Thursday and he is compiling a tidy trap-eight record. He will be sighted wearing pink here.
The electric greyhound He’s All Go will complete his preparation for his visit to Addington next week to contest a Gr.1 heat when he lines up in Friday’s Moore Law Whanganui 520m (Race 6) event.
His conditioner Lisa Cole produced the winner of 25 from his 30 races to run a searing Hatrick 29.60 520m time last Friday and only bad racing luck beats him here.
A couple of his kennelmates are poised to feature for the minor placings, with last week’s runner-up Big Time Bam drawing nicely in the one-trap.
Russian Ahead is a greyhound who owns serious pace as seen by his last start 25.59 Cambridge 457m win. He is provided with swooping claims from the eight-trap.
A contender in the field who can provide a degree of value for the exotic bets is the Glen Hodgson trained Rapaki Rocks who will race in the TAB 3 vest. He has split some of the Cole trained dogs in the past and he can do likewise again here.
Manukau
Moving onto Sunday’s Manukau meeting where the main 527m event is the Mt Wellington TAB Stakes (Race 11).
The only open class graded greyhound in the field is Portland Jessie who is mentored by the sisters Lisa and Tracey Craik. She is on a current three-race winning streak and she can extend on that in this event.
Kennelmate Ingratiate finished 1.90 lengths behind Portland Jessie last Sunday and he is likely to enjoy his first career trap-two draw here.
Opawa Tails owns the strength in this field as seen by his strong finishing last start Cambridge 650m win. He is likely to be sighted doing his best work at the business end of this event for his trainer Corey Steele.
Steele’s parents Wayne and Tracey lines-up the inform Ain’t It Fun who has come of age in her recent assignments. Sure, she’s facing her toughest career test on Sunday, however it won’t be long before she is sighted racing competitively at the top level.
