Mark Rosanowski lines up a competitive 12-race programme, featuring sharp debutants, proven locals, and several runners well placed to deliver. Read his thoughts below:
Canterbury visitor on debut beat the useful Tears Flowing in a recent trial at Addington. His mother was very fast but unreliable at times. 2 Jilliby Finale was strong through the line when second at Hatrick on Friday. 6 Sprinkle Jean led home the outside pair when second in a trial here last Tuesday.
Selections: 4-2-6-8
Wanted away from the rail when second on this track out of box 1 beating 3 Cloud Booming into third. Tears has won since on his home track at Addington last Friday so is running out maiden nominations. Cloud was an unlucky sixth at Hatrick from an unsuitably wide draw. Looks the value. 7 Cadrona won a 375m trial in a tidy 21.63s. Is a brother to the smart Highbury Heights.
Selections: 4-3-7-5
Downgrades after running last in a strong middle distance field. Win four starts back was in a similar race. 4 Let's Go Barbie was clipped from behind when leading on Friday. Places often here.
Selections: 5-4-7-3
His lack of early speed was costly when second to 4 Need An Uber here but he is a demon railer as he demonstrated when winning in a slick time at Hatrick on Friday. Ace draw should be a big plus. 3 Dalgety is a Canterbury visitor jumping out of maiden grade into a strong c1 for his first look here but he did run faster than the open class dogs at Ascot last week.
Selections: 1-3-4-8
Freakishly fast chaser that isn't always the quickest into stride but usually has excuses when he's beaten as he was as a short-priced favourite this course & distance in April. Meets a hot field including the Galaxy runner-up 7 Priority so there will be no second chances. Field maps well for the fave however.
Selections: 6-7-2-5
Doesn't get into a c3/4 field that well but she's had a stunning week winning here in a decent time then clocking a faster mark than the c5s at Hatrick. 4 Stuck Throttle is back to a c5 assessment after his win at Addington on Thursday but gets a bonus run in this class. 1 Criminal Minds relishes the rail but he will need a margin on some of these to hold on.
Selections: 3-4-1-6
Early stumble was costly when nosed out as a red-hot favourite at Hatrick by 2 Goldstar Minty. Runs this track well so can make amends. 6 Sunbird Striker got a look around the track here last week in a race that had to be abandoned as there was no lure. Easy win at Hatrick on Friday.
Selections: 7-6-2-4
Up in class & into a strong field but given his time last Tuesday eclipsed the c5s it shouldn't be an issue.
Selections: 3-7-5-4
Has clicked with three straight wins including two at the similar shaped Ascot Park. Had no luck when hampered in his only prior visit here. 2 Twisted Truth has been impressive here in the past. Hasn't had much luck in this campaign & should be nearing peak fitness.
Selections: 3-2-4-7
Has won 10 from 14 including at his only prior visit here when he withstood pressure from an experienced dog to score. 4 Two Down is 10 from 12 including a couple of sprints at Ascot Park. Long way to come for a match race.
Selections: 3-4-6-2
Had excuses for a surprise defeat at Addington a week after he won the group one Galaxy. Was a quick winner this course/distance five starts back. Draw suits & he should have the early lick to beat out the 4 & the 3 which are both keen railers.
Selections: 2-4-3-6
Angled into traffic from a wide draw at Hatrick but still nearly got up. 3 Not Okay was third in the same race after diving straight for the rail from box 7. Fitter for that fresh-up run & could challenge the favourite.
Selections: 5-3-8-7
Best: Churn It Up
Next: Mojito Dreams
Value: Cloud Booming (R2)
