Sunday’s Manukau patrons are in for a treat with the appearance of the boom greyhound He’s All Go making his return to the Auckland headquarters.
Last week the Lisa Cole trained class act blasted his career earnings through the $200,000 stakes barrier when winning his 34th race (from 42 starts) and he returns to Manukau having won all four of his previous 527m races at the venue, with the best coming in a tidy 30.13.
Remarkably it has taken until his 43rd race start for Jet (kennel name) to be allocated his first trap-six draw from where he races from here in the Mt. Wellington TAB Stakes (Race 10) as he continues his preparation for next month’s $80,000 Auckland Cup.
Kennelmate Russian Ahead owns early pace and it’s that asset that she must use when she jumps away from trap-eight here. She has previously raced generously at this venue and from her draw before. .
The Wayne and Tracey Steele trained Ain’t It Fun was the victim of an impeded racing passage in last Sunday’s 527m race. There was plenty to admire about her prior pair of solid 527m wins here.
The Hewlett Electrical Sprint (Race 9) presents a sharp looking open class 318m sprint field.
Hunter Lu is flying at the moment as evidenced by her tidy 18.22 318m win last Sunday for her trainers Ross and Lynne Udy. Her sharp early pace is her best asset.
The Lisa and Tracey Craik trained Just One Grin struck traffic issues in last week’s version of this dash. His prior sharp 18.15 318m win was full of merit. Kennelmate Portland Ding Us was solid when delivering his 318m second last Sunday.
Cole is bringing the inform Midnight Brockie north for her track debut outing. She travels north on the back of tidy recent 305m and 375m wins, including her low-flying last start 20.95 Manawatu 375m time.
Stayers in action at Addington
A match-up between a hardened experienced stayer and an exciting up and coming stayer highlights this afternoon’s Addington meeting when they clash over the 732m distance.
Dominating the Happy Birthday Bonnie Evans field (M10, R1) is the proven Bob Pringle prepared Grande Vue Ace who is racing against the promising Goldstar Ginny for her conditioner Riley Evans and she looms as the omen bet as the race is named after his mother Bonnie.
Both of them contested the recent Gr. 2 Galway Cup over 732m at Ascot Park with Goldstar Ginny delivering a powerful finish for her second placing.
Grande Vue Ace was massive when she was forced to overcome a severe first-turn check to rocket home for her third placing.
This pair of stayers loom as a strong Quinella Fixed multi option, although the Jason Dunn trained Opawa Roxy was a bold last start 43.52 732m winner here.
The quality Hatrick races continue this evening
It looms as another Lisa Cole kennel clash in this evening’s main Baldrick’s Cunning Plan C4/5 520m (Race 9) event.
Her recent Gr. 1 Spion Rose winner Fear To Tread returns here following her effortless Manukau 30.43 527m Sunday win. Obviously she is the greyhound to beat here, however she will be racing from the eight-trap for the first time in her career in her 32nd race.
Kennelmate Blazin’ Master is in the twilight of his outstanding career, however no-one has told the veteran of 111 races (44 wins) that factor as seen by his recent stylish trio of C5 wins. The winner of $329,668 in stakes demands respect from trap-four.
Consider the strong chaser Drought for Kelly Lincoln-Papuni and the Suzie Kite prepared Rock It Rapper for the minor combos.
A post-race podium claim case can be built for all six of the Cole trained sprinters in the Jolt Coffee House Wanganui C5 305m (Race 5) sprint.
Both Shades Of Space and Big Time Atlas return here after their Sunday Manukau 318m sprints and they command respect.
Big Time Proof showed that he isn’t just a Wanganui 313m straight track specialist when he led all-the-way for his 17.40 305m win last Friday.
