Palmerston North Pups going past the post

The Palmerston North GRC is hosting and toasting owners today at its nine-race card at the Manawatu Raceway. Trainers have been asked to invite owners to enjoy the hospitality of the club and some are coming from as far as Auckland.
“They won’t go hungry or thirsty,” club president Paul Freeman quipped.
“There isn’t really anything in our code that rewards owners the way there is in the other parts of the industry,” he said. “Kevin Brady (PNGRC board member) is involved in ownership in the horse codes as well as the dogs and he felt we should acknowledge owners that have invested money in greyhounds.”
We like to have a feature every quarter here at the club,” he continued. “We’ve got Commentators’ day coming up next month (March 17) which has been a feature for a few years now. We’re also looking at a past champions day and a memorial day as well.”
Canterbury-based PNGRC club member Steve Evans is bringing a large team north for Goldstar racing.
“He can’t get a boat back until the next day so it is a big commitment and we are thankful for his support of the meeting,” said Freeman who will spend the majority of the afternoon providing fish, chips and other fried delights from his Foxton Fish and Chippery caravan on behalf of the club.
6 Let's Go Barbie
Has early speed that has carried her to three placings in four this course & distance. Looks the value. The favourite 3 Goldstar Harmony is the fastest dog in the race but has had trouble concentrating.
Selections: 6-3-5-7
5 Goldstar Sid
Was hampered pretty much the whole way when second on debut. Had beaten Goldstar Hunter in a qualifying trial before that.
Selections: 5-4-3-6
7 Goldstar Colson
Yet to win here in 16 attempts but ran past 8 Bet Rejected when second here a fortnight ago & has run two more solid seconds since at Hatrick.
Selections: 7-1-8-6
5 Opawa Tara
Beaten by a track specialist in a decent time here a fortnight ago from the same draw.
Selections: 5-3-7-2
3 Thrilling Carlos
Downgrades after another unlucky run but he doesn't help himself. Has a kinder draw today.
Selections: 3-7-2-6
2 Barry Bowler
Dead-heated for first with a form dog last time so stays in the grade. 3 Adobe Underworld was pushed sideways early on then was in traffic most of the way. One of only two c4s in this.
Selections: 2-3-7-8
5 Adobe Drake
Close fourth here two starts back is good form for this reverse criteria affair. Was checked in the early rush when fifth on Friday but did his best work late.
Selections: 5-7-3-2
3 King Harvest
Put it all together at Hatrick last start & returns to his favourite track. 6 Goldstar Murphy showed a liking for this track when racing in lower grades during the Winter.
Selections: 3-6-4-8
4 Goldstar Parker
Fair fourth in a strong c3 field at Addington. Went close here at big odds three back. Each way.
Selections: 4-1-3-6
Best: Opawa Tara
Next: Goldstar Sid
Value: Adobe Drake
