Last year’s Gr. 1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Move To Strike will begin his stud career at Lovatsville in Victoria next spring.
Move To Strike is by champion stallion I Am Invincible out of the Shamardal mare No Evidence Needed, who won six races including the Gr. 2 Let’s Elope Stakes and finished second in the Gr. 1 Rupert Clarke Stakes and Australasian Oaks.
Bought by Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis for A$525,000 as a yearling on the Gold Coast, Move To Strike scored two scintillating wins as a two-year-old last season including the Sires’ Produce Stakes. Among the beaten runners in that Trentham feature were the season’s champion two-year-old Velocious, along with Savaglee and Captured By Love, who went on to win this season’s Gr. 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas and New Zealand 1000 Guineas respectively.
Move To Strike is following in the footsteps fellow Group One-winning Te Akau colts Xtravagant, Heroic Valour and Cool Aza Beel in embarking on a stud career in Australia.
“Our team is excited that Move To Strike will be standing in Victoria this season,” Ellis said. “The Lovatsville pitch was compelling, leveraging the opportunity to have Move To Strike's stock become VOBIS-qualified, which has become an important part of our Victorian-based Cranbourne operation.
“Move To Strike is a stallion with all the credentials to make a significant impact on the breed – pedigree, performance, physique and mind. We can’t wait to follow his journey as he passes on those exceptional qualities to his progeny.”
Lovatsville will offer Move To Strike at an introductory service fee of A$16,500.
“Move To Strike is one of only two Group One-winning two-year-olds by I Am Invincible and has an exceptional pedigree and physique to complement his on-track performance,” Lovatsville’s Sam White said.
“Being out of a high-class, multiple Group-winning and Group One-performed Shamardal mare provides breeding buffs with confidence that this horse can take you forward.
“He's a horse for the times.”
