The progeny of the prolific producing brood bitch Isavana continues to kick goals, very big goals.
Combined the progeny that Isavana has produced from her four litters have to date won $1,356,591 in stake earnings.
The daughter of Fabregas and Brook’s Doll is the second millionaire producing broody in New Zealand with the Kissing Gwyneth progeny winning $1,283,300.
Isavana, who is the 2024/25 NZ Dam of the Year, is owned by Dave and Jean Fahey, and she has whelped those quartet of litters at their Balcairn based kennels.
“We brought Isavana from Australia with the view of breeding from her. Her half-brother Ando’s Mac (from Brook’s Doll) won the 2016 Melbourne Cup, and he won 28 races and $687,211.
“Isavana’s litter brother Pindari Express was a handy greyhound over there winning 18 from 31 races,” advised Dave Fahey. “We brought Isavana over here and she won first up over 520m at Addington.
“However, she was a terrible box dog - hopeless, making slow starts, so we decided to retire her after 12 races and breed from her.
“She turned into a terrific broody for us. She has a lovely nature, and all of her offspring have fantastic temperaments.
“Jean has been the chief whelper, having whelp all of the litters. When the pups were weaned, they went to our daughter Sarah to rear at her property. She did a tremendous job in doing that. Actually, Sarah also reared Original Warrior (NZ Cup winner),” added Fahey.
Isavana’s first litter was to Barcia Bale (April 2020), with the nine pups who raced winning 120 races, accumulating stakes amounting to $301,013.
Leading contributors were Georgie’s Girl (25 wins, $62,218), Chatty Mavis (20 wins, $62,625) and It’s Better (20 wins, $50,245).
Isavana’s second litter was to Mepunga Blazer (December 2021) and combined the 11 litter members have won 143 races, earning $420,333 in stake earnings.
Headlining that litter has been Wild Pansy (32 wins, $89,720), Hunter Lou (24 wins, $76,328) and Old School (19 wins, $62,500).
Isavana’s best performing litter is the Aussie Infrared (November 2022) sired progeny who so far have won 170 races, gathering $584,135 in stakes.
The speed machines from this litter includes Jerry Cola (36 wins, $138,620), Everest Sky (30 wins, $120,620) and Dingo Night (30 wins, $82,130).
It is from this litter where the star greyhounds Jerry Cola and Everest Sky have won Group races.
Jerry Cola, who is the 2024/25 NZ Bred Greyhound of the Year, won the 2024 New Zealand Derby over 457m at Cambridge Raceway. He then went onto win the Gr. 2 North Island Challenge Stakes also over 457m at the Manawatu Raceway.
Everest Sky has completed the short course sprinters Group 1 double, annexing the 2024 Railway Sprint over 318m at the Manukau Stadium, then winning last week’s 295m Galaxy Sprint final at the Addington Raceway.
Recently members of the Whisky Riot (January 2024) litter have just commenced racing, indicating that they have inherited the family talent with Jeddy Spaghetti, One Up and Two Down having already won 26 races from just 38 races.
Combined Isavana’s sons and daughters have now contested 1,508 races, winning 459, while placing on 426 occasions, adding up to a very tidy $1,356,591 in stake earnings.
And wait, there is more. Two of Isavana’s daughters Chatty Mavis and Georgie’s Girl have litters who are currently at the breaking in and trialing stage.
Therefore, in other words, Isavana can be called a canine producing cash machine on four paws!
