Carter chasing Millions on big night at Addington

He likes the idea of the winning Millions, but Carter Dalgety knows it won’t be easy this week.
In fact, Dalgety is acutely aware he could head home on Friday night having enjoyed a good night at the office without actually winning a race, it’s that tough at the moment.
But he’ll be trying to snare something, and with drives in both Harness Millions finals, he’s got a chance.
Bettor Belle will line up in the fillies’ final off the back of a good third fresh up at Timaru against the boys.
“She’s a filly I’ve always liked, but she probably didn’t quite go on with it earlier in the season,” Dalgety said. “We sent her for a spell and she’s come back looking like we wanted her to all along and I thought her run at Timaru was great.
“I just wish we had drawn in a bit closer than where we have (barrier seven). She’s got great speed, but I could use up plenty early and not even find the front with some of the ones drawn inside us.”
Freeze Frame won that Timaru race, and he’ll take on Zeus Lightning, Allamericanplayer and Jumal in the $200,000 boys’ final this week.
“He’s a wee dude, I’ve got so much time for him. He’s come back from a spell really well too, and while he’ll be better as a three-year-old, he’s good enough to play a role this week with a bit of luck – perhaps not a winning hope, but he won’t be far away.”
Dalgety issued a warning for punters too that while both Republican Party and Beside Me have improved off their fresh-up runs over the past two weeks, he expects them still to need at least another run before the hit full steam for the upcoming features over Cup Week and beyond.
“They’re on the right path. Republican Party has come through his run super, but might just need another one before the Canterbury Classic next week. Beside Me definitely needs it after her run last week.”
